Helena Celle – “Music for Worms”
We are pleased to announce the continuation of our co-commissioned residency with WORM Rotterdam where one artist is given a week-long production period in their studios to create a piece for broadcast on Radiophrenia and WORM radio. Last year Maria Rossi aka Cucina Povera was selected for the residency. This year’s choice, Glasgow based sound artist and musician Helena Celle, was all set to go. However due to travel restrictions as a result of Covid the residency has had to be postponed until later in the year. The fruits of the residency will be shared as a special one-off broadcast / stream and in the next edition of Radiophrenia.
Helena’s intention for the Worm residency was to incorporate WORM studio’s audio hardware into her cybernetic system music / ideomotor response system that she has been developing over the past decade, which now lives on her tablet computer and can interface with any manner of external hardware or MIDI input. We look forward to hearing the results.
Helena Celle is a Glaswegian artist and audio engineer. She is concerned with the participatory representation of the imaginal through the organisation of sound, image and language, and currently produces an hour (or more) of original work for patrons every month. She plays guitar in the band Herbert Powell (Lost Map Records), and previously played bass guitar in the band Anxiety (La Vida Es Un Mus Records).
