Giada Pignotti – Storia di Laide (before sleeping) – episodes 1 & 2
Thursday, 17 September⋅8:30 – 9:00pm
Tonight at 8:30pm – Milanese artist Giada Pignotti presents an audio diptych in ‘Storia di Laide (before sleeping)’.
“Storia di Laide” is a hybrid work blending storytelling, experimental music and poetry. Through shifting episodes, it follows Laide and her evolving sense of body and identity. The bed becomes the core stage: a site of rest, desire, refuge and darkness.
Storia di Laide (before sleeping)
Episode 1 – Preludio:
Prelude: Interior. Night. The singer wakes up in an unfamiliar and
empty but, at least for now, safe room.
Just a moment, a moment before sinking into the relief of
silence, I will tell you a story, one last song before
sleep, one last more.
Laide laida Laide
That you do not yet know well the evils of the heart,
the evils of the world.
Laide, dirty white, dances among the ugliness of the space she inhabits. She should restore purity, but instead she lives in the mud, she lives in darkness.
Episode 2 – Creature del cielo (Creature del mare):
Dream and rest, do not awaken
Creature of the sky, creature of the sea
Cold
Frost
Sea
Floating
Somewhere

You will not return to your childhood home
You can’t!
You can’t!
You will not return to your childhood home
You can’t!
You can’t!
