Na Clann à Arnol – “The Strange Case of The Arnol Otter”
In 2025, more than 80 chickens mysteriously disappeared from the village of Arnol on the West Side of the Isle of Lewis. Rumours quickly spread that an otter had been prowling the streets at night and taking chickens. Many were in disbelief – could a sweet sea otter really decimate almost the entire population of chickens from one village? The speculation began – maybe it was a polecat, a hungry neighbour – or something even stranger?
The children of Arnol put on their detective hats and set out to solve the case, creating a playful radio drama inspired by the mystery. Moving between Gaelic and English, The Strange Case of The Arnol Otter is a story of chickens, rumours, clues, village life and an investigation into what really happened to all those missing birds.
