Classifieds & Sarah Lutkenhaus – A Sentence Is A Long Word (live in the studio)
Wednesday, 16 September⋅5:00 – 5:30pm
At 5pm today – live in the studio we have Classifieds & Sarah Lutkenhaus performing ‘A Sentence Is A Long Word’.
The artists will present a live in-studio performance in which their own voices and found vocal recordings are processed and reassembled in real time. Working between Chicago and Glasgow, and drawing on two distinct lived experiences of womanhood, they use radio as a site of modulation rather than fixed transmission. Through distortion, interruption, repetition, and bleed, the voice becomes unstable—never singular, never fully owned.
Narrative dissolves into texture. Presence becomes patchwork. What emerges is a feminine vocal field shaped by disjunction and interference rather than coherence.
Sarah Lutkenhaus is a sound artist and designer whose work explores interiority, contradiction, and systems of memory. Through performance, archives, and voice, she investigates one’s position within networks of bodies and histories, creating subtle, textural works that resist resolution. She is currently based in Chicago, USA.
Nikki Lynch is an artist whose sound and music practice (Classifieds) utilizes field recordings, tape loops, electronics and ambient drones, layering and exploring ephemeral, archival and dissonant sounds through a lens of queer audiology and spectral, sometimes abrasive amalgamations. She is currently based in Glasgow, Scotland.
