At 4pm this afternoon Adam Mirza and Akiva Zamchek present a special Radiophrenia edition of FRL (aka “Fake Radiolab”).
FRL (aka “Fake Radiolab”) is an ongoing duo performance project that interrogates mediated “facts” through experimental explorations of the podcast as a media form. The project self-consciously engages with radiophonic material as both its subject and its medium, resulting in a technologically and culturally hybridised discourse in which symbols of power, presented as performative utterances, are absorbed into an assault of genres.
Central to the project is the use of audio production to expose and amplify the transformation of text into performance, and performance back into text. These processes are understood as powerful forms of mediation that have become ubiquitous—and increasingly effective—within contemporary media culture.
