A Journey Through the Sounds of the Night

Simon Šerc & Martina Testen – A Journey Through the Sounds of the Night

6 September 2026, 11:00pm – 7 September 2026, 12:00am

Art 11pm, and all the way up until midnight, we take ‘A Journey Through the Sounds of the Night’ courtesy of artists Simon Šerc & Martina Testen.

This immersive composition transforms nocturnal field recordings into an artistic exploration of the hidden lives unfolding after sunset. Tracing the natural arc of a single night, the work reveals the forest as a sentient ecosystem where owls call, stags roar, wolves howl, and countless small creatures navigate darkness with intelligence and purpose. Over 200 audio tracks are woven into a non-repeating sonic tapestry where each sound appears once, at its own duration, creating an unrepeatable nocturnal journey. Neither documentary nor nature program, this work uses radio’s intimate qualities to collapse the distance between listener and wilderness, inviting meditation on animal consciousness and the fragility of ecosystems threatened by human encroachment. The composition plays to radio’s unique power to create immersive darkness – transforming listening into witnessing.
