Keith de Mendonca – Travelogue
Monday, 14 September⋅12:30 – 1:00pm
Today at 12.30pm – a sonic meditation through the sounds of travel and motion in Keith de Mendonca’s ‘Travelogue’.
Trains, planes, boats, metros, escalators, rickshaws and human motion – finally stepping out out into deep sand. Sonic signatures to be recognised by those in the local geographical area. Abstract sounds to everyone else. The Berlin S-Bahn, Bengaluru metros, Staten Island ferries, squeaky floor boards in Copenhagen to pilgrims walking around an idol in a small dark temple in the centre of Lhasa.
Steam, smoke, electricity and carbon expended into the atmosphere.
Travel certainly broadens the mind, but it often also impacts our future. How to square this circle?
